2016-06-22 Acupuncture as safe pain treatment option

In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) found that acupuncture could effectively treat 31 conditions and diseases, from simple aches and pain to more complex migraines, to low back, neck and shoulder pains. Results from acupuncture differ. It has been found that for 80% of patients, there will be 85% to 95% reduction in pain on the first round of treatments. In 10% of patients there will be 20% to 70% reduction of pain,and 5% of patients will respond poorly or not at all. The variables include the general health of the patient, age, the chronicity of pain, and current medications.
